Capitol Christmas Tree on 'whistle stop tour' next week

This year's tree is an 80 foot tall Noble fir from the Willamette National Forest.

EO MEDIA GROUP - The Capitol Christmas Tree, cut near Sweet Home, is prepared for transport.Next week, Salemites and other Oregonians nearby can get a look at the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree without having to go to Washington, D.C.

This year's tree is an 80-foot-tall Noble fir from the Willamette National Forest.

The tree will make an appearance at the state Capitol in Salem on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon. At 10:30, the Sonshine Christian School Choir will perform. You can also get your photo taken with Smokey the Bear and sign the "Christmas Card to the Nation."

The state's own Christmas tree will be ceremonially lit Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 5:30 p.m., one day before the National Christmas tree will be lit in D.C.
