Asian-Pacific Island Day at the Capitol
SALEM — The Oregon State Capitol will host an event April 28 to observe National Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May.
"Our Shared Heritage: Asian and Pacific Island Day at the Capitol" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 900 Court St. N.E. honors the rich diversity and contributions Asians and Pacific Islanders have made to the state and kicks off a series of festivities planned for May.
Local cultural organizations, dance troupes and musical groups will perform at the event and provide cultural activities for families.
Admission is free of charge. Tours of the Capitol's tower featuring the golden Oregon Pioneer at the top of the dome are available at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. Two food carts also will be on site.

1 p.m.: Philippine Cebuano Dancers and Friends of Salem join Filipino American Friendship Club for a performance of Barrio Fiesta Suite: Tower Tour.
1:30 p.m.: Kalabharathi School of Dance, Rotunda.
