Unger joins Jay Inslee's political team

Ben UngerPOLITICO reports that former state Rep. Ben Unger is one of several new advisers hired to the political team of Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, who is considering running for president.

From 2013 to 2015, Unger represented House District 29 — including Forest Grove, Cornelius and Hillsboro — west of Portland.

He was executive director of liberal advocacy group Our Oregon from 2014 to 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Unger will serve as a political adviser to Inslee, who is expected to announce a bid for the presidency soon, according to POLITICO.

In 2016, Unger led the charge for Measure 97, which would have raised $3 billion a year in new business taxes. 59 percent of voters rejected the measure after a tough, expensive campaign.

Unger couldn't be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
