House GOP spox departing post
Greg Stiles, communications director for the House Republicans, will vacate that job at the end of July.
Stiles started working at the House Republican caucus office in January after a 36-year career at the Medford Mail-Tribune.
Mike Carew, chief of staff to the House Republican Office, confirmed Stiles' departure, but declined to comment further.
"As we get to the interim and out of session, there are often reviews and organizational changes that are made, and that was an organizational change that was made," Carew said.
Stiles is no longer working in the Capitol, but will work on a consulting basis for the office until the end of July.
An online posting for the job offers a monthly salary between $5,056 to $7,977.
Stiles did not return a phone message seeking comment.
Stiles, who was known for visiting the press room in person on a regular basis — an uncommon occurrence among Capitol press secretaries — gained some notoriety in April for a press release comprised almost entirely of baseball idioms.
