Raquel Moore-Green appointed the House seat

She replaces Denyc Boles, a Republican who was appointed to the Senate earlier this year after the death of Sen. Jackie Winters, R-Salem.

AUBREY WIEBER/ OREGON CAPITAL BUREAU - Raquel Moore-GreenRaquel Moore-Green was appointed by the Marion County Commission to represent Salem in the House of Representatives Tuesday.

She replaces now-Sen. Denyc Boles, a Republican who was appointed to the Senate earlier this year after the death of Sen. Jackie Winters, R-Salem.

Moore-Green was sworn in Thursday by Oregon Supreme Court Justice Meagan Flynn in the Oregon House. Among the crowd were dozens of friends and family, as well as a handful of lawmakers.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be trusted to serve those people," she said.

"Raquel has a lengthy record of community service and working with people from all backgrounds for the common good," said House Republican Leader Carl Wilson, of Grants Pass. "The House Republican caucus is excited to add someone with her talent and character to our team."
