Wave of retirements hits the Capitol
A slew of lawmakers have recently announced that they're saying goodbye to the art deco murals, kitschy carpets and marble halls of the Oregon Capitol.
Just this week, Rep. Caddy McKeown, D-Coos Bay, and Sen. Arnie Roblan, D-Coos Bay, announced they wouldn't run for reelection. Last week, Rep. Carla Piluso, D-Gresham, said she wouldn't run again.
Rep. Sherrie Sprenger, R-Scio, isn't running for reelection either, instead opting to run for a post on the Linn County Commission.
Sen. Laurie Monnes Anderson, D-Gresham, said earlier this year that she wouldn't run again next year. Sen. Cliff Bentz, R-Ontario, announced Wednesday that he would leave office in January in order to run for the 2nd Congressional district seat next year, after longtime U.S. Rep. Greg Walden said he wouldn't run again either.
