At the Oregon Republican Party’s election night festivities in Salem, a live band played throughout the evening, although it took a while for the crowd to get to the dance floor.

One of the most enthusiastic dancers was D e n n i s R i c h a r d s o n, who was elected secretary of state Tuesday night, the only Republican to clinch a statewide office, and the first Republican secretary of state since 1985.

His counterparts — Jeff Gudman, the Republican candidate for treasurer, and Bud Pierce, for governor — did not appear to to have caught the Tuesday night fever.

Richardson and his wife seemed to be dancing in a bluesy style along with the band, although other members of his family later attempted the Charleston with mixed success.
