Alexis Taylor was confirmed Wednesday as the new director of the Oregon Department of Agriculture.

She received some very clear advice.

“We very rarely hear complaints about the Department of Agriculture, so please don’t screw it up,” said Sen. Brian Boquist, R-Dallas.

Taylor takes over from Katy Coba, who was promoted to director of the Department of Administrative Services and named the state’s chief operating officer.

Taylor most recently served as USDA’s Deputy Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agriculture Services.
