Goat yoga rears its head – this time on the Senate floor

Is the goat yoga fad over yet?

Not quite, it would seem — now that there’s a beer named after it.

Goat yoga, which is exactly what it sounds like, has gotten national media attention, perhaps for confirming the Portlandia myth; but its founder is actually from Sen. Sara Gelser’s district.

The Corvallis Democrat rose during remonstrances on the Senate Floor Tuesday to tout the latest development: Goat Yoga Beer, which is a collaboration between Yachats Brewing and Claim 52 Brewing.

“We now have an official goat yoga beer, it is called the goat yoga IPA,” Gelser said, adding it to the reasons why she believes she has the best senate district.

In a video on the senator’s official YouTube channel, Sen. Lew Frederick, D-Portland, whose desk is behind Gelser’s, can be seen with his head in his hands. The look on Senate President Peter Courtney’s face after her speech is one of dismayed incredulity.
