Emergency Board gains seven new members

SALEM — Senate President Peter Courtney and Speaker Tina Kotek appointed seven new members to Oregon Emergency Board last week on the last day of the more than five-month legislative session.

When lawmakers are out of session, the board handles agency requests for increases in spending limits, emergency funds and transfers, receives reports and approves applications for federal grants.

The 20-member board consists of 10 senators and 10 representatives. Thirteen of those lawmakers were reappointed to the board.

New additions to the board are: Sen. Lew Frederick, D-Portland; Sen. Chuck Thomsen, R-Hood River; Rep. Rep. David Gomberg, D-Central Coast; Rep. Jodi Hack , R-Salem; Rep. Dan Rayfield , D-Corvallis, Rep. Barbara Smith Warner, D-Portland; and Rep. Gene Whisnant, R-Sunriver.

Other members who were reappointed include:

Sen. Richard Devlin, D-Tualatin; Sen. Fred Girod, R-Stayton; Sen. Bill Hansell, R-Athena; Sen. Betsy Johnson, D-Scappoose; Sen. Rod Monroe, D-Portland; Sen. Elizabeth Steiner Hayward, D-Beaverton; Sen. J ackie Winters, R-Salem; Rep. Mike McLane, R-Powell Butte; Rep. Nancy Nathanson, D-Eugene; Rep. Greg Smith, R-Heppner; and Rep. Jennifer Williamson, D-Portland.
