ROSENBLUM

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum will be the keynote speaker at the 20th anniversary of a Girl Scouts troop for girls whose mothers are incarcerated.

Members of the troop — part of the Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington — meet at Oregon’s women’s prison, Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville. Like the traditional Girls Scouts, the troop is intended to build the girls’ skills and confidence. Girl Scouts Behind Bars additionally promotes bonding between mother and daughter.

The anniversary celebration is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. at Cambia Atrium, 100 S.W. Market St., Portland.

To attend, RSVP by Monday, Oct. 22.

Rosenblum has been a player in the state’s criminal justice reform, which aims to reduce the number of people sent to prison and instead provide them with support services that help them be productive, law-abiding members of society.
