A formal request for $13.8 million in state bonds to fund the Student Success Center at OSU-Cascades will be made Friday.

The Power Point presentation for the construction budget request by the Higher Education Coordinating Commission was posted online Thursday.

The request includes the $13.8 million for the Bend campus project, the amount Gov. Kate Brown included in her budget proposal to the Legislature.

HECC will present all of its college related construction programs at the hearing Friday of the Joint Ways & Means Subcommittee on Capital Construction.

The funding would come from bond allocations in Senate Bill 5505, the state university capital construction bill.

After the hearing, the subcommittee will schedule a work session on the bill. At that point, lawmakers can amend the requests, adding items or taking items out of the bill.

The subcommittee will then vote on their allocation plan, which then goes to the full Joint Ways & Means Committee.

The committee can make further revisions before sending the budget to the House and Senate for approval. No amendments can be made on the floor of either chamber. The bill would then go to Brown for her signature.

The bond sales would be authorized beginning July 1, 2021.

The hearing will be online live and archived for later viewing. Click on the camera icon at the far right of the web page.
