• Kelly Mix is the new state chief procurement officer at the Oregon Department of Administrative Services. He will oversee the central procurement office, including contracts and statewide price agreements, and will be responsible for statewide procurement training and certification, procurement policy and outreach to small businesses and local governments. Mix was promoted to the job when Debbie Dennis was promoted to administrator of enterprise goods and services at DAS.

• The Association of Oregon Counties has two new legislative affairs managers: Michael Burdick for community development and public safety, and Jessica Pratt for health and human services. They replace Rob Bovett and Lizzy Atwood Wills. Pratt and Burdick will work with AOC Legislative Director Mallorie Roberts, who has been promoted to that position and handles transportation policy; Drenda Howatt, natural resources and veterans; and Tyler Janzen, governance and revenue.

• The Legislative Fiscal Office is recruiting for a deputy fiscal officer following the March 31 retirement of Laurie Byerly. She served as interim legislative fiscal officer after Ken Rocco’s departure until Amanda Beitel was appointed last year, and then returned to her deputy role. Paul Siebert continues as the other deputy legislative fiscal officer.

• Former Congressman Greg Walden’s official portrait is on display in Washington, D.C. The artwork by Jon Friedman was unveiled Wednesday in the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s hearing room on Capitol Hill. Walden chaired the committee while representing Oregon’s 2nd Congressional District.

Subashini Ganesan-Forbes, the former creative laureate of Portland, has been appointed to the Oregon Arts Commission by Gov. Kate Brown.
