Erika McCalpine will serve as ODOT’s assistant director for the Office of Social Equity, starting June 15. She most recently was director of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Laboratory at Oregon State University-Cascades and executive director of strategic diversity initiatives.

The Oregon Legislature is recruiting a security operations program manager, who will design and implement emergency response actions in collaboration with Oregon State Police and legislative administration. The job description says, “This brand-new position is an exciting opportunity for a skilled security professional, eager to build a security program from the ground up, including budget development, employee training, and risk assessment.” Applications for the job, which will pay $66,132 to $99,216 annually, are due June 12.

Western Oregon University’s new president didn’t last long. Dr. Sukhwant Jhaj from Arizona State University, who was announced in April as the incoming president, soon backed out. Next week the WOU Board of Trustees plans to appoint another of the four finalists, Dr. Jesse Peters, as president. He is dean of arts and sciences at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
