More state executives appear to be on their way east, trading the lame-duck Kate Brown administration for the Joe Biden administration. Colette Peters, who has led the Oregon Department of Corrections since 2012, reportedly is the top candidate to run the federal Bureau of Prisons. President Biden last month nominated Alexis Taylor, director of the Oregon Department of Agriculture, as undersecretary for trade and U.S. agricultural affairs. Look for transitions in the months ahead; it doesn’t hurt that Nik Blosser, Brown’s former chief of staff, is chief of staff in the White House Office of Cabinet Affairs.
State Rep. Marty Wilde, D-Eugene, has asked Brown to appoint him as a Lane County circuit judge. The court will have two vacancies as of June 30. Wilde is not seeking reelection to the Legislature.
