After 17 years with the Oregon Department of Corrections, Sue Washburn retired June 30 as superintendent of the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton. The department is accepting applications through July 17 for the position, which carries an annual salary of $105,756 to $175,128.
Rep. Karin Power, D-Milwaukie, who is leaving the Legislature in January, will become interim executive director of Business for a Better Portland on July 1. Rep. Greg Smith, R-Heppner, is ending his role as Malheur County economic development director, which he held through a county contract with his company, Gregory Smith & Company, LLC.
Christopher McMorran is the new chief of staff for Rep. Lisa Reynolds, D-Beaverton. Dru Draper is member services coordinator for the Oregon House Republicans in addition to political director for their campaign committee.
Gov. Kate Brown appointed Shandie L. Johnson as Sherman County justice of the peace, as of Aug. 1. Johnson, a parole and probation officer for Wasco County, will succeed Ron McDermid, who is retiring.
