BethAnne Darby has joined Strategies 360 as senior vice president, public affairs. A longtime staffer at the Oregon Education Association, she then headed the External Relations Division at the Oregon Health Authority, was an executive at Moda Health and was interim executive director of Youth, Rights & Justice.
The Oregon Senate confirmed Gov. Kate Brown’s appointments of Douglas County Commissioner Tim Freeman of Roseburg, a former Republican legislator, and Paul Solomon of Eugene, executive director of Sponsors Inc., to the Criminal Justice Commission.
This week Brown extended the deadline to Oct. 5 for people seeking appointment as Klamath County district attorney. Current DA Eve Costello’s resignation takes effect Oct. 31. The governor also is choosing a replacement for Klamath County Circuit Judge Dan Bunch, who is retiring Dec. 31. That application deadline is Wednesday, too.
The Umatilla Chemical Depot is being renamed the Raymond F. Rees Training Center in honor of Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Raymond F. Rees. Part of the former Army facility in Eastern Oregon has been converted to a training site for the Oregon National Guard. Rees served more than 16 years as Oregon’s adjutant general and was a deputy assistant secretary of the Army, director of the Army National Guard and acting chief of the National Guard Bureau.
Leah Feldon will serve as interim director of the Department of Environmental Quality while the Environmental Quality Commission conducts its search for a permanent director to replace Richard Whitman, who retired. Feldon has been deputy director for six years.
The Northwest Power and Conservation Council appointed Jennifer Light as power division director. She had been interim director since April.
