Jonathan Sandau was promoted from assistant director to deputy director at the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
The Oregon Health Authority’s Health Care Workforce Initiatives Team has three new staff members who moved from other OHA positions. Deepti Shinde is primary care office policy lead. Ritu Dhungana is health care workforce team manager. Katrina Doughty is health care workforce pathways coordinator.
Judge Josephine H. Mooney resigned from the Oregon Court of Appeals, effective Oct. 31. She has served on the court since 2019. Gov. Tina Kotek, who will appoint her replacement, is accepting applications until Nov. 4.
The Oregon Climate Action Commission has three new members appointed by Kotek: Michael Seavers, F/V Miss Sue Inc.; Eliza Garcia, states associate with Climate Power; and Yaseen Arifin, Sunset High School student, Beaverton.
The State Land Board this week added three members to the Elliott State Research Forest board: Payton Smith, director of communications and government affairs, Southport Lumber; Michael Wilson, retired natural resource director, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde; and Jennifer Allen, retired professor of environment and natural resources, Portland State University.
House Speaker Julie Fahey, D-Eugene, appointed Lani Williams to the Task Force on Specialty Courts, replacing Aaron Gosney.
Oregon Coast Community College will have a new president on Jan. 1: Marshall Mease Roache, who is Chemeketa Community College’s executive dean of career and technical education and public safety. Dr. Birgitte Ryslinge, OCCC president since 2014, is retiring.
Channa Newell resigned from the Oregon Government Ethics Commission, having taken a senior staff counsel job with the Oregon Judicial Department.
Jenna Jones returned to the League of Oregon Cities, where she will be the lobbyist handling its tax, finance and economic development portfolio. She worked for LOC during 2017-21 before moving to Metro as state and regional affairs adviser.
Ryan Krabill began work at the Oregon Farm Bureau this week as government and national affairs manager. He previously was director, business development, Medius Ag; self-employed at Ascent Agricultural Insight; director, research and analysis, Potatoes USA; senior director, legislative and regulatory affairs, National Potato Council; deputy director, external and intergovernmental affairs, and deputy White House liaison, U.S. Department of Agriculture; and deputy campaign manager, Ron Saxton for Oregon governor.
Kathryn Darnall Helms, Oregon’s chief data officer, is among three recipients of the 2024 State Technology Innovator Awards given by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers.
Christine Kirk, who retired as the Oregon Youth Authority’s longtime public policy and government relations manager, is now a mindfulness and meditation coach and facilitator.
